The Sierra Leone Film Industry saw a very tremendous growth within the period of 2021 to 2022, even though not as expected from the general population of filmmakers.  At least we have experienced a growing love for local films and the respect for local filmmakers in country than in the past three years. The actors herein this write up make up those that sale through popularity in their communities and across Sierra Leone based on how they trend on social media, the viewers’ choice, awards they won, leadership they bear on their shoulders , platforms they interact with and the popular opinions of the populace about them, and you can find their films in the market, on YouTube, or AYV TV – DSTV.. These are the most popular actors within Sierra Leone from 2021 – to early 2022, brought to you by imageSALONE, 

1. Kerry David Barry alias Ramadan

Ramandan K. D. Barry was picked by the public as the most popular actor that has trend from 2021 to 2022 in Sierra Leone. He has been one of the most talented seasoned, and sensational actors since he won the Best Actor in A Lead Role award in 2018, an award ceremony organized by the National Entertainment Awards.  

The secret behind his success has been humility which is hardly seen in so many people that gain stardom, and are being celebrated by the people that make them in the first place. His is not only an actor but a good movie director and producer. Ramadan’s movie he co- produced – Sinnah, which he directed and appeared in the Male Lead Role got nominated by the National Films Awards, ZAFAA, Hong Kong Film Festival, etc. The short story film he recently directed, Hide, also got picked by the International Organization of Migration (IOM) and included it amongst the migration films they aired across the world. The movie, Sinnah won an award from the Hong Kong Film Festival as the Best African Film.

2. Phebean Swill Randa

Phebean Swill Randa is an actor, a philanthropist, a TV Presenter, Master of Ceremonies, Public Relations Consultant, and an entrepreneur. Phebean is married to Godfrey Lloyd Randall who is a media presenter and social media representative at Tencent, presenter at StarTimes, former university professor at Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology, etc. The diva celebrated her 30th birthday on the 2nd of January 2022.

 Phebean has been acting but has never caught the eyes of Sierra Leone movie lovers that much except for her role in the 2021 movie – PROFIT POINT, especially for the line – ”junction don lock, now all man ol ine yon”.  Some of the films she has featured in are, Profit Point, Together by Law, Needing a Man, etc. She reached this height based on her appearances on TV, MC appearances and recent movies – Profit Point and ”What E Berah”, – the movie she produced in 2021.

3. Desmond B. Finney

Desmond B. Finney is one of the highly educated and highly respected model actors in Sierra Leone. He offers his free service to the University of Sierra Leone where he lectures. He has won many awards including the recent ones he took home from the Special Movie Entertainment Awards (SME Awards) 2021 edition. He remains one of the  actors that are running the movie science so cool and very much business wise – in Sierra Leone. To this day, he remains popular for his roles in most of the major popular movies that have been consumed by the public either via premier, TV or street sales. 4. Sia Comfort Ediener Nyukeh

Sia Comfort Ediener Nyukeh is one of the post popular Sierra Leone female actors with a very high network within society. She holds a master’s degree to her belt. The ex-reality tv show contestant for Next Movie Star which she ended up wining in the second edition, is a screen diva to reckon with. She produces her own movies and star in major roles. The good thing about her is that she is open to work with her colleagues and she is ever ready. Sia is currently working to release her next movie titled – Jinn of the Past. 5. Abdulai Saidu Tonkoh Kamara alias Glamour Raider

Abdulai Saidu Tonkoh Kamara with screen name Glamour Raider is one of the finest and most talented male actors Sierra Leone has ever produced. He first started as a director and came into acting. Now he is a full-time actor and movie producer. He recently came back into limelight when he appeared in the movie – Grey where he made an outstanding performance in a lead role.  Glamour got married in on the 13^th of April 2021 to his long time girlfriend. He is currently working on premiering the movie – Sunday January.  He is the only actor that has appeared in this category for the year 2021 without an award or a platform, but because he he appeared in a lead role n the movie – Grey, one of the finest movies from Sierra Leone in recent times. 

6. Lloyd Zachariah Sesay

Lloyd Zachariah Sesay made it to this list for his roles in the movies, Sinnah, Hide and Near But Far Away. Lloyd is a screen writer, movie producer, and the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lloyd Zachy Production, a multimedia company he founded in 2018. He is one of the Sierra Leonean actors that have shown consistency in the industry and he knows how to take care of his social media handles very well than most of the filmmakers. 7. John Ade

John Yemi Adewumi Cocker with screen name John Ade is an entrepreneur, film actor and producer. He is the strongest Sierra Leonean actor with a very broad athletic built and tall height of about six feet. He won the strongest man contest with a very gallant display in the 2017 edition of Sierra Leone Strongest Man Contest, where he rolled high by carrying heavy duty items and pulled a very huge vehicle with a rope tied to his waist. He produced starred in the lead role of the Sierra Leonean movie Troy, a movie adapted from the original movie Troy. He has played major roles in movies like Botie, Profit Point, Sinnah and Princess Warrior, etc. His big size, taller height, and high vigor and tempo voice gives him advantage over a lot of actors. 8. Alimatu Lema Khan Sesay

Alimatu Limakhan Sesay is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the movie production house – Lima’s Diary. She is a mother of two boys, a banker, a screen write and the winner of Best Actor In A Lead Role award from the 2021 National Films Awards ceremony for her performance in the movie – Profit Point, a movie she wrote and produced herself.

She is one of the actors that hardly feature in movies done by other production houses except that she made appearance in the movie ‘’Stain Scarf’’, a movie done by a production house known as, The Actors; even though the movie is yet to be out. 9. Prince Kelly

Prince Kelly is the king of the North West Region of Sierra Leone. He won four awards from the Lungi Entertainment Awards for his outstanding performances and the quality of his movies. He is one of the longest serving actors in the Sierra Leone Movie Industry. He is the founder and CEO of the Salone Celebrity Empire, a movie production house based in Lungi. Prince is arguably one of the tallest male actors across Sierra Leone with  broad athletic shape. He commands high respect in his region and beyond. Prince got married to one of Sierra Leone’s most beautiful and brilliant female actors – Becky Fvour. They currently have a child together.

10. Khadison Augustine Madaa Duwai

Khadison Augustine Madaa Duwai is more of a singer song writer than an actor. He came to the movie scene in 2019 when he appeared in the movie, Together By Law, a movie done by Lema’s Diary production house, written by the CEO, Alimatu Lemakhan Sesay. Khadison played the male lead role with Alimatu.

In 2021, Khadison was featured again in the movie Profit Point, a movie that was done again by the same production house. He played the role of a documentary filmmaker, and his role got him nominated for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the Best Newcomer in A movie. He won the award for Best Newcomer in a Film from the 2021 edition of the National Films Awards.

He is one of the actors that has a wider network and when featured in a movie, he contributes to huge amount of ticket sales than any other actor across Sierra Leone. He hons a very cool voice. Khandison is a vibrant singer and popular Gospel artist very well-known across the Christian communities in Sierra Leone. He is definitely best at what he does.

11. Samuel Alex Kargbo

Samuel Alex Kargbo alias Depoh, is a singer song writer, a comedian, master of ceremonies and an actor. For over half a decade, Samuel has maintained his status as a consistent entertainer. He has sang about three albums consecutively, acted a lot of short comic skits and appeared in a lot of movies from across the country. He is currently a brand ambassador for Africell for the North – Eastern Region.

Samuel is the most popular actor in the Northern Region of Sierra Leone because of his network. He is married with kids and works as an electrical engineer with CGT, an electrical company that provides generator services as sub-contractor to EDSA, the national entity that is in charge of electricity.

12. Bankole Ibrahim Williams

Bankole Ibrahim Williams is a Kenema based actor. He won the best actor in the 2021 – 2022 edition of the Kenema entertainment awards. He is one of the most popular actors in the Eastern Region of Sierra Leone and he commands respect amongst his fellow actors. Currently, he is the Sierra Leone Country Representative for the Pan-African Filmmakers’ Association, known as Azania. Bankole has appeared in 17 movies out of which 11 are already in the market. He has featured in movies like, Spirit in Love, Peahunya, Matamoi, Khadija, Clash of Twins, Daru Bridge, Journey to the Evil Forest, Covid 19 Episode, etc, including a lot of short comedy videos. He is certainly one of the most respectful filmmakers you can come across.

13. Michael Sheku Sawaneh

Michael Sheku Sawaneh is the most popular actor in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone. He is the only actor that is based in the second capital city of Sierra Leone, Bo City that has won a national award for Best Male Lead Role in a Film, from the National Entertainment Awards because of his sensational performance in the movie – Land of Doom, and Best Actor in a Role from the Bo Entertainment Awards. He started his acting career in 2008 and later rose to limelight in the following years. Michael has appeared in movies like Tribal War, Land of Doom, Captain Shasha, Bloody Affairs, Mabinty, Talahai, etc. He is a very cool and moderate individual.
