The African Movie Icons and Celebrity Awards was launched on the 16th of October 2021 at Rokel Check Point in Freetown. AMICA is an award that is set to make a difference by enhancing integrity in all its track records, said the representative in Sierra Leone – King Marvel Obloffer. The launch event was well attended especially by moviemakers across the Western Area.
This award was founded in the Gambia in 2020 while it was established in Sierra Leone in 2021 by Seray Dainkeh – a Gambian based Sierra Leonean filmmaker that proudly wants Africa to stand out in terms of entertainment.
